OUR REGION

Morgantown, West Virginia is home to many; however, a lot of individuals lack vital information regarding the area. Morgantown is along the Monongahela River and is home to West Virginia University. Morgantown has many local residents who strive to help educate their youth and continue to improve employment and education rates in the area. Last year City Council recognized 2016 as being the Year to Go Green and were very proud of the advancements in reducing waste and making a cleaner Morgantown. In 2017 Go Green Morgantown continues to try and create a clean environment for the residents of the community (Morgantown, n.d.). As far as education and income is concerned, when given the information regarding reduced lunches and family income, West Virginia Department of Education classified Skyview Elementary as 60.59% needy (West Virginia, n.d.). This is concerning for future generations of our area's current children as they are not necessarily prepared financially for their future academic endeavors.
